Released:
Label: Merge Records
Only the fifth album in more than 15 years from San Francisco's finest coed, gay-friendly, shrewdly fizzy indie-rock band, Feel the Sound is light and frivolous but slyly profound. Peppy keyboards and bright boy-girl harmonies mask bouts of pristinely tuneful anxiety (the breathless "Over His Head") and semi-oblique sex talk ("You set the trap and locked your phone/ And we became a palindrome"). Nothing terribly adventurous here (though "Hanging About" is sort of very gentle Krautrock), just pure pop for now (and then) people.
