As the album title suggests, Immortal were an almost inhumanly fast death metal band when this appeared in 1997. The white-out guitar and drum sound is so interlocked, it is difficult to believe the music isn't in fact made by machines. The last album to feature founding member Demonaz on guitar, Blizzard Beasts furiously rushes past in under 30 minutes, marked by the gargling vocals of Abbath, that guitar-drum attack and almost no hooks. Immortal were simply one of the most far-out bands to come out of the whole Norwegian scene.
