Released:
Label: Riot
Initially a joke band with an elaborate backstory that claimed vets like Krokus and Dio had stolen their songs while they were exiled in Japan, Fozzy, which features pro wrestler/frontman Chris Jericho and a somewhat fluid lineup, dropped the gimmick with 2005's All That Remains. Chasing the Grail, Fozzy's second serious effort, reveals a band throwing stylistic darts -- from Southern rock balladry ("Broken Soul") to epic prog-metal ("Wormwood"). But things go best when Fozzy is fanning the flames of classic thrash (see: the opener).
