Released:
Label: Goose Hut
Father Goose's first solo album came out in 2003, and it feels like he was still (sometimes literally) finding his voice. The album has pillowy, echoing production values that don't do full justice to what are often charming songs. But the Caribbean vibe that has come to define Father Goose shines here -- his ragga breakdown on "Day-O" is hysterical, as is his dub-ification of "Coming Round the Mountain." And he's at his best on the goofiest tracks: any parent of a toddler will appreciate the sound-play of "Spa, Na, Na, Na."
