Released:
Label: Kill Rock Stars
Seven years after his tragic death, the singer-songwriter gets a sort of "greatest hits" treatment for the Smith novice. An Introduction features tracks from his 1994 debut Roman Candle to 2007's New Moon, plus an "early version" of the Oscar-nominated "Miss Misery." It skips over 2000's Figure 8, though, and only includes one track from 1998's XO (probably due to label snags -- both were released on DreamWorks). Still, it's a solid starter kit. It just needs a warning label: Smith's music is kind of like a bottle of (name your poison) -- it's not safe to indulge in until the sun goes down.
