It's no surprise that the mastermind behind Dub Colossus is Nick Page, co-founder of Transglobal Underground. The result of a month Page spent hanging out in Addis Ababa and collaborating with Ethiopian musicians, A Town is lush landscape of sound with just enough of a dub beat to keep the world's club kids moving and its day-trippers zoned out on the grooves. But make sure you tune back for the tracks where the Colossus transcends its dubster roots (as on the continent- and genre-skipping "Shegye Shegitu") and, especially, where Page backs off and lets the local talent strut their stuff.
