Released:
Label: Eleven Seven Music
Formed in 1996, Drowning Pool rode the alt and nü-metal waves, with Resilience marking their fifth release and effectively inhabiting the DMZ between the two genres. In spite of the potential to sound trapped in the '90s, Drowning Pool manage to tone down the obvious alt and nü elements (Soundgarden-y choruses, hip-hop-ish synths) and come away with a melodic but heavy millennial rock record. That means it's louder than "active rock," but palatable to Lamb of God haters. "In Memory of..." is a paean to original singer Dave Williams, who died of heart disease in 2002.`
